Beijing, the capital city of China, is regarded as the birthplace of Chinese Civilization. One of 6 capital cities from ancient times it has had the honour of being the capital for several dynasties during the last 3,000 years.
 
Located in the Northwest part of the North China Plain, Beijing is the country’s second largest city and is home to more than 11 million people. The warm temperate climate makes it an ideal place to visit all year round.
Being China’s political centre more than 140 foreign embassies are located here and it is the country’s second largest economic centre.
 
With more than 30 universities and over 40 scientific research institutions it is also the centre of education, science and technology employing the largest number of professional people.
 
As you would expect from the capital city there are plenty of museums and the libraries boast the largest collection of books in the country.
