One of the four municipalities in China Tianjin is rich in history. Tianjin, meaning 'the place where the emperor crossed the river' has a long historical background but was desecrated by foreign invaders long before the foundation of People's Republic of China. 

Shared by nine imperialist countries meant that times were difficult for the people and of course they left their marks on the city. Thousands of villas are in evidence that enhance the city but are a reminder of old times of occupation.
 
Tianjin has various attractions for the visitor such as Huangyaguan Great Wall, Dule Temple, Haihe River, the Water Park, Gu Wenhua Jie, the Tianjin TV and Radio Tower and Hotel Street and Food Street.                                                                                 

Travelling to and from the city in convenient as there is a good transportations system. If you arriving by air you will land at Tianjin Binhai International Airport which connects with most major cities in China and also European and American cities. If you prefer to travel by sea then International and domestic sea routes will bring you to the city’s port which is the largest man-made port in the country. Trains and long distance buses also operate.

Renowned throughout China, Tianjan cuisine traditional Tianjin snacks are widely available. The other Chinese cuisines can also be found and Food Street is a good place for you to try these cross-cultural Chinese dishes. Don’t miss these famous snacks if you are staying here. 

The 3 favourites are Shiba Jie Mahua (fried dough twist) which is sweet-smelling and crispy. It be stored for several months whilst retaining its flavour. Then there is Goubuli Baozi (steamed stuffed bun) which has more than 150 years of history. 
To say that Goubuli Baozi is a food calling card of Tianjin would not be an exaggeration.  
It has a chain of  restaurants which  can be found in Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen and other Chinese cities as well as some cities in America, Japan and Korea. Finally Erduoyan Zhagao with fine ingredients and a history which is almost 100 years old.

As well as the  traditional snacks mentioned, Korean, Japanese and other Western style cuisines are available here to make your mouth water and satisfy your stomach.

Located in the Southwest of the city’s downtown area, the Tianjin Olympic Centre Stadium will host Football during the 2008 Games. Covering 78,000 square meters, it will seat 60, 000. Designed by the Japanese AXS SAWTO Inc.              
It reflects the three Olympic concepts, namely "Green Olympics," "High-tech Olympics," and "People's Olympics."

The stadium which will accommodate 6 floors meets the international standards for hosting football games and athletics. The stadium will have a dual purpose as the accompanying facilities such as a big marketplace, exhibition hall, conference room, and gym will also be able to provide space for public entertaining, exercising, and shopping.

On the ground floor are included an indoor parking lot, a 3,460 sq. m. exhibition hall, a 6,400 sq. m.The Olympic Football stadium of Tianjin  dining room. A health care centre and a section for both athletes and referees is also provided. On the other floors Franchised stores will be available and a sports and exercise hall as well as International Convention Centres and further health care centres.

The competition section consists of a grand stadium, an aquatic sports centre, an international sports exchange centre, and an existing Tianjin sports indoor stadium.
